Congratulations
Congratulations to Adam Caulfield, a
graduate student in Wyndham Lathem's lab. He has received the
Richard and Mary Finkelstein Award from the American Society of
Microbiology. This prestigious honor is given to only six
graduate students each year, and recognizes outstanding research in
the area of microbial pathogenesis. In addition, Adam's abstract
for the upcoming ASM General Meeting, was selected to be included in
the "Outstanding Student Poster" category of the conference which is
dedicated to highlighting exceptional students for outstanding
research efforts, that is interdisciplinary in nature. Adam's
poster was one of only 40 selected.
Faculty Publication
Dr. Liang Zhou, Assistant Professor
in Microbiology-Immunology and Pathology,
and his group have published a featured article in Immunity,
describing the essential role of the aryl hydrocarbon receptor in
promoting gut innate immunity through regulation of innate lymphoid
cells expressing the RORgt

Faculty Awarded
Dr. Hank Seifert has won The Faculty
Mentor of the Year award presented by the Medical Faculty Council (MFC)
on behalf of the Feinberg community, with support from donors Mr. Paul
and Mrs. Frances Kent. There are two awards each year, one for basic
science mentors, one for clinical mentors. Hank won the Basic Science
award.
