Congratulations
Congratulations to Dr. Hank Seifert for
being named a visiting Professor at the University of Oxford, Oxford,
United Kingdom. Dr. Seifert will visit the University of Oxford
in April 2012 for the visiting Professorship.
Faculty Awarded
The
Department of Microbiology-Immunology would like to congratulate
Dr. Liang Zhou for being selected as one of twenty-two of
America’s most promising scientists selected as
Pew Scholars in the Biomedical Sciences by The Pew Charitable
Trusts. The Pew Scholars program encourages
early-career scientists to advance research that leads to important
medical breakthroughs and treatments.

Dr. Hank Seifert has won The Faculty
Mentor of the Year award presented by the Medical Faculty Council (MFC)
on behalf of the Feinberg community, with support from donors Mr. Paul
and Mrs. Frances Kent. There are two awards each year, one for basic
science mentors, one for clinical mentors. Hank won the Basic Science
award.
An award
ceremony was held September
8, 2011 in
Hughes Auditorium followed by a reception in the Ryan Family Atrium.
