Greetings to all the CAVA members and I wish a great 2003 to you all!
When Miss Cheryl Jogger of Northwestern University first suggested to me last year that we start a CAVA newsletter, my immediate response was "what a great idea". It is a great idea not because there is pressure for CAVA to "publish or perish". As most of you know already, CAVA has been a wonderful organization for the virologists in the Chicago area for many years, and many of the CAVA pioneers are still actively involved in the CAVA activities. A newsletter is a great idea to me, and I hope it is a great idea to all of the CAVA members as well, because I believe that it will give us more opportunities to communicate with each other, and share information on a broad spectrum of viral research activities, either HIV, HSV, RSV (to most people, RSV means Rous sarcoma virus, and for a few others, it may mean something else), or other viruses. ...more
